Ryan Helton, MSC, LPC, is the founder of Mastering ME and an Arizona Licensed Professional Counselor (#LPC-16578). He offers private-pay counseling for adults seeking support with anxiety, depression, relationships, burnout, and life transitions.
Ryan’s approach is collaborative and practical. He helps clients understand the patterns behind what they are experiencing, recognize their strengths, and work toward meaningful change at a pace that fits them. His background spans outpatient counseling, school-based services, family support, domestic violence services, inpatient intake, and community education.
Ryan also offers coaching as a separate, non-clinical service focused on goals, values, and personal or professional growth. Counseling and coaching have different purposes and processes; the Services pages explain the distinction so you can choose the right fit.

Before anything, Ryan is a devoted and proud husband of 19 years and father to 3 boys and 1 recently adopted dog (Teddy- also a boy!). Ryan grew up in Arizona. Favorite hobbies include ALL things music & basketball, longboarding, working out, reading, writing, stand-up comedy, and playing games of all kinds! Yes, he is very competitive!

Counseling is a clinical service. Ryan uses his training as a Licensed Professional Counselor to assess concerns, develop treatment goals, and provide psychotherapy when appropriate. Together, you can explore patterns, relationships, emotions, and symptoms in a confidential therapeutic relationship.
Coaching is a separate, nonclinical service. It focuses on client-defined goals, values, habits, decisions, and accountability in personal or professional life. Coaching does not include mental health diagnosis or psychotherapy and is not a substitute for counseling.
If you are unsure which service fits your needs, start with a consultation. Ryan will discuss the scope of each service and whether counseling, coaching, or a referral is the appropriate next step. You can also read the Counseling vs. Coaching page and its detailed document.
